Northern York/Trinity combines with Camp Hill, Bible Baptist and Shippensburg schools to compete in Tier 3 for the 2011-12 season. The young team will return with four seniors:  Mitch Smith (Northern), Dan Resavy (Shamrocks), Brendan Bergey and Corey Swartz (Bible Baptist).   However, the Polar Bears and Shamrocks are very deep with experienced juniors and sophomores. Northern’s historical head-to-head approach to hockey remains but now adds a touch of finesse with the addition of several very skilled skaters.  The club intends on being a factor on the ice this year.

Returning players Smith, Resavy, and Bergey are expected to lead this team into a positive and productive season with newcomer Swartz.   Junior skaters Kace Winters and Mike Wilson from the Shamrocks; AJ Zdanowicz from Camp Hill; Jake Christensen, Jordan Lockhart, and Nate Deardorff from Northern; and Logan Hayes from Shippensburg will be an integral part of the program.

The sophomore class boasts two solid skaters, Zach Shumberger from Northern and John Myers from Shippensburg, while Cameron Bour from Shamrocks is the lone freshman skater.

Northern has the luxury of 2 goalies, Jared Locke, a junior from Bible Baptist and Nick Holencik, a sophomore from Shamrocks. Both are solid net minders.

Head coach Jason Bergey will be behind the bench with Marty Smith, A.J. Carr and Tom Shumberger.  The coaching staff agrees that despite the team’s youth, solid leadership coupled with a strong work ethic will allow the team to make an impact in the Tier 3 race.
